The tests carried out by the Republican Unitary Enterprise "Scientific and Research Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus on Animal Husbandry" showed high efficiency of sapropel additives: as soon as they were introduced into the ration, there was an increase in milk, the average daily gain of cattle weight increased. This was also due to improved feed conversion.

It is not a secret that soybean, rape or sunflower meal is assimilated by 50 percent only. With sapropel additives, protein digestibility reaches 70-75 percent.

After one month of research, it was proved that metabolic energy consumption per one kilogram of milk decreased by 7-12 percent and crude protein consumption - by 5-9 percent. At the same time, milking herd productivity increased by 10-15 percent and milk fat and protein content increased. Cases of mastitis were reduced by 96 percent and the number of somatic cells in milk decreased by 3.5 times.
- A few years ago experiments were carried out at the pig-breeding complex of Rechitsa KHP. For three months some of the livestock was fed with sapropel in one room and the other with expensive additives. In the first case the use of veterinary preparations was practically three times less and the preservation of livestock was close to the maximum value unlike in the second group where the index was lower. The secret is that humic acids stimulate the body's defenses, improving the immune function of animals. After all sapropel is a powerful sorbent that has the unique ability to bind and excrete naturally pathogenic products or heavy metals, which otherwise lead to either death or disease of animals. Humic acids contained in the sapropel feed additive stimulate the formation of propionic acid, which subsequently synthesizes 60 percent of glucose. The concentration of isobutyric and isovaleric acids is significantly reduced. At the same time, the concentration of ammonia decreases. These findings are confirmed by Belarusian livestock scientists as well.
